I painted this piece at a live event where worship was being held. A very young girl approached me, watching intently as I painted. Though she didn't have the words to ask if she could join, her eyes spoke volumes. I handed her a pencil, allowing her to draw and later paint alongside me. This little artist painted with such confidence. Being so young, she drew a very disjointed person she called "Mama".
I had already envisioned this painting of a blue jay, a highly intelligent bird part of the crow family, known for it's beauty, symbolizing a sleek and beautiful prayer to heaven. This young girl's contribution added the final touch to the meaning of this work. I deeply related to her drawing of mama, sometimes feeling feebly disjointed and unheard. Yet, I could hear the words: God hears your prayers. He answers, heals, and sees you for who He created you to be.
1 John 5:14-15 CSB
[14] This is the confidence we have before Him: If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. [15] And if we know that He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked of Him.
